Bay of Connections Update
Welcome to the latest Bay of Connections update.
RGS update
The Bay of Plenty Regional Growth Study draft action plan is now complete and currently with Government officials and Ministers, before its official launch in the region on October 29.
Thank you to all who have helped guide this process by providing valuable insights and views.
Action plan launch: hold the date
The regional action plan launch is on Thursday, October 29. Tea and coffee will be available from 8.30am, with formalities commencing at 9am. Book this date in your diaries. A formal invitation, including details on location and venue, will follow soon.
Energy Strategy update
Two new energy experts have been appointed, with GNS’ Melissa Climo and Peter Kernohan set to lead and develop the next phase of the Bay of Connections Energy Strategy, including aligning actions with the Regional Growth Study.
This will also involve the re-establishment of the Energy Action Group over the coming months. Nik Gregg, Sustainability Options Ltd, will also work alongside Melissa and Peter from an energy efficiency perspective. We will keep you updated as things progress.
BOC in the news
The Bay of Connections Freight Logistics Action Group featured in regional media recently, advising companies to address potential biosecurity risks that could hit both growth, and day-to-day business operations, if ignored.
We had some great local media coverage on this story including in the Bay of Plenty Times and SunLive.
Upcoming meetings
As we enter the last quarter of the calendar year, there is still a great deal of activity amongst various action groups. Upcoming meetings include:
Regional Aquaculture Organisation – October 20, Opotiki
Freight Logistics Action Group – November 3, Mt Maunganui
Forestry and Wood Action Group – November 17, Rotorua
For more information on action group meetings, please contact us. These are a coalition of the willing so we look forward to your involvement, if you aren’t already.
Kind regards
Cheryl Lewis (nee MacGregor)
Bay of Connections portfolio manager
