March 2020 news update

Tēnā koutou,

We’re thinking of everyone in our region right now and hope that you and your whānau are keeping safe and well.

During this unprecedented time, we’re pulling together a comprehensive database of useful information and guidance relating to this rapidly changing situation, so that it is easy to find on the Bay of Connections website.

Alongside the New Zealand Government’s dedicated Unite Against COVID-19 website – and relevant information which we will also host on our platforms – we will be developing and maintaining a regional directory of industry bodies that can be used as points of contact for redeployment, assistance and other topics.

For more information and specific regional contacts please head over to the COVID-19 webpage. We will continue to keep this updated in real time, and will also share important updates via our LinkedIn and Facebook pages.

The Bay of Connections is in the process of seeking to identify and support the needs of the wider region, EDAs, local business and community during this time and will be in contact in the near future as this work develops.

Secondly and sadly, Rebecca Roe left Bay of Connections today – Monday 23rd March to take up an exciting new role. We’ll let her tell the story in her own words:

After five years in government, I am moving outside to manage and oversee a new education-to-employment programme for disengaged youth, with the Bay Of Plenty Youth Development Trust. I will also work alongside my partner to bring Wellington-based firm ‘Velocity Financial’ into the Golden Triangle.

I have really enjoyed the opportunity to work alongside each and every one of you. I have been working with our Leadership Group and the Bay of Plenty Regional Council team to ensure that there is continuity and support going forward, especially during this time of uncertainty.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me personally on, 021 703 772.

In the meantime, I wish you all the best at this time. Stay safe and close to your families,

Ngā mihi,

Rebecca Roe
Programme Manager, Regional Economic Development
