Regional Growth Study News Update #5

Welcome to the latest Bay of Plenty Growth Study update.

Action Plan development

Work on the Bay of Plenty action plan is well underway, with stakeholders across the region and Government engaged in developing key actions in each of the nine priority sectors.

These opportunity areas were identified through the Government’s independent report on economic opportunities in the Bay of Plenty and your feedback through the RGS regional workshops held in June.

The key areas of opportunity include:

  • Education and skills
  • Aquaculture
  • Water
  • Visitor economy
  • Forestry and related products
  • Horticulture
  • Geothermal
  • Agribusiness and land use change
  • Māori land utilisation

A draft of the regional action plan will be presented back to local stakeholders at a Regional Validation Forum on August 25. This will be an opportunity for you to validate the actions and provide further input on the key relationships and partnerships for implementation.

Save the date

The Regional Validation Forum will be held on August 25 in Taneatua, with a light lunch preceding the forum. Formal invites will follow next week, but in the meantime please save the date in your diaries.

As always, the communication lines remain open and if you have any queries about the current phase of the RGS process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
